Vendor Credit
Credit Reporting Service
In September 1999, the Optical Industry Association/The Vision Council membership enhanced its programs for credit managers by installing a new Credit Reporting system and re-authorizing the Days Outstanding statistical report. The Credit Reporting Service (CRS) provides members with an Industry vs. Vendor report, which compares the member’s accounts receivable to the industry total (the combination of all members’ data). Receivables are specified to be current, 30, 60, 90 or 120 days; accounts are identified by the customer’s federal id numbers. The Core List reports the customers that have raised concerns over payment. The CRS was developed by Applied Information Technologies under the guidance of the OIA Credit Committee. The system is Windows based and Internet accessible. Members upload their own data and produce their own reports, allowing "real time" reporting. Federal id numbers prevent confusion of customer accounts, which can also be referred by address, zip code, or company name. Member participation is voluntary and confidential. The CRS is available for a free 14-day trial to any member not currently participating. We will assign a temporary password and provide instruction on how to use the system. To find out more information about the CRS or if you would like to participate, please contact Ashley Danchuk, Research Analyst at (703) 740-2251 or at adanchuk@thevisioncouncil.org.
