Government & Regulatory Affairs

The Vision Council on The HillThe Vision Council takes an active role in advocating for stronger public policy to protect Americans' vision and improve access to vision care products. From lobbying on Capitol Hill to monitoring legislation and regulations, The Vision Council is a policy resource for its members.

Public Policy Activities

Legislative Initiatives
On behalf of our members, The Vision Council is on the forefront of all vision-related legislation on Capitol Hill from children's vision to military eye protection. Whether it's meeting with Congressmen or simply lending our support to a worthy piece of legislation, The Vision Council represents our members'
interests in Washington, D.C.

Regulatory Issues
Federal regulations have a large impact on how our members do business and The Vision Council actively monitors these regulations to provide immediate feedback to our members with an analysis of all industry-related issues. We monitor changes related to counterfeiting, tariff and trade, and all federal agencies. We update our members on any changes to these policies and work to educate the industry. We work closely with the Administration on issues that will affect our members and have a skilled team of policy professionals and legal experts to take on these challenges.

VisionPAC
Every day, decisions made in Washington, DC, have a tremendous impact on the success of our individual businesses, our industry as a whole and the eye health of Americans. To help influence these decisions, The Vision Council operates VisionPAC, a federal fund non-partisan political action committee (PAC) which supports congressmen who have a proven track record for supporting the agenda for vision care and vision care products. By donating to VisionPAC, members play an important part in the continued protection of our industry's interests from potentially harmful pieces of legislation and regulations that can cause harm to the way our industry does business. Learn more about VisionPAC.

OneVision
The Vision Council recently established a non-federal 527 organization to handle all funds raised for outreach purposes. This new entity will be used to educate lawmakers about the need for vision legislation. It is a key part of The Vision Council's advocacy efforts and works separately from the current federal VisionPAC.

Public Affairs and Advocacy Committee
Members of the Public Affairs and Advocacy Committee oversee all aspects of The Vision Council's government & regulatory affairs activities.
