John Fried

John is the President and CEO of A&R Optical Machinery, Inc., providing automated inspection, control, pad printing, packaging and finish blocking systems to the ophthalmic industry. In addition to these automated systems, A&R provides proprietary instruments for power measurement of uncut lenses, finished lenses and moulds as well as lens-mapping instruments using light reflection and transmission methodology for free form. Prior to joining A&R in 2005, John was the President and CEO of LOH Optical Machinery, Inc., providing lens processing equipment for the ophthalmic and precision optics industry from 1991 to 2005. John began his career in the optical industry in 1973 where he worked in the contact lens field until joining Optical Radiation in 1985 to work in the field of ophthalmic lenses.

John is a former Vision Council of America (VCA) board member and chairman of the LPT division from 2003 to 2005. He has also served on the VCA steering committee, Nomination Committee, Statistics Committee and was among the other founding members of Vision Pac. Other membership and association experience include The International Society for Optical Engineering, The American Precision Optics Manufacturers Association, serving on the Optifab committee, and Co-chairman and founding member of the OLA Exhibitor Advisory Group.
