Graphite pencils and ink pens are often the bane of existence for left-handed people. Ink pens can help people to create beautiful calligraphy and were the staple in Victorian England, however they are simply not designed for left-handed people. Ball-roller pens are also a little awkward, as the way left-handed people write forces the ball to roll in the opposite direction, meaning the ink can come out in splurts and splatters.

However they have the eerie side effect of looking into the mouth and in some cases if you don’t plug the piercing, they can get a bit drooly!

The first question that comes to mind is…why? And how? But somehow an Achilles heel piercing is completely possible, although it looks like a pretty raw wound when the piercing is taken out! It makes for a cool way to add miniature wings to your ankles to look like Hermes though!

Yep, you read that. Although a risky operation, people can get their eyelids pierced. It works very much like a lip piercing and doesn’t tend to hurt much because the skin is so thin. I can’t imagine it would be very comfortable for your eye though, especially in the cold winter!

Some boys would love to be like Wolverine from the Marvel comics, so it is no surprise that you can get pierced between the knuckles with long, Wolverine-like metal spears. It might become a little more difficult to scratch your nose with those piercings however.

While not in itself an odd piercing, you’d have to have some balls of steel to get over 20 facial piercings. You know that little dangly thing at the back of your throat? Yep, you can get that pierced. It takes a little bit of effort initially but it is a great way of getting a piercing that you can hide from your conservative parents or strict employer. Be your own rebel!

Another piercing in a strange place, the smiley piercing is basically piercing that little bit of skin in between your gums and your upper lip. Surprisingly enough this piercing is not permanent, and will work its way down the lip as time passes to eventually fall out.

What a way to show your true, eternal love, with a finger pierced ring. Or you can get something a little more subtle with a dermal; making it look like a gem is just rising up and out of your finger.

Another potentially dangerous piercing; if you’re planning on getting the nape of your neck pierced, it is always good to ask an experienced body piercer as the nape of the neck is very close to the spine and you could damage some fairly crucial nerve endings if it is done incorrectly.

Northamptonshire is home to an award-winning grade II-listed barn that dates back as far as the 17^th century. Part of the family-run Dodmoor House, the barn is accompanied by a beautifully maintained courtyard that’s a wonderfully romantic escape from the vibrant party atmosphere.

There’s room for up to 100 guests during the ceremony, while at night the barn has enough space for 180 guests and family members. The barn even has a room full of toys for the youngest generation to enjoy.

A Film Set Wedding

Napoleonic Quirkiness

For something truly out there and completely unique, take full advantage of Polhawn Fort that sits atop the Rame peninsula in the Cornish cliffs.

The fort was built as a protector against the invasion attempts of Napoleon and incorporates all sorts of wonderfully quirky features, from spiral staircases and vaulted ceilings to a magnificent drawbridge.

The Napoleonic Hall is a grand spectacle and is capable of hosting up to 120 guests at a time. The hall and the Emperors Room, which has enough space for up to 30 guests, are both great places to tie the knot.

Let’s not forget that Cornwall experiences reasonably mild winters, meaning ceremonies could even take place outside the fort if you’d prefer.

Married by the Seaside

Kent offers some of the most attractive coastlines in the country and you won’t be disappointed with The Artist’s Beach House in Whitstable should you be looking for that beautifully relaxed coastal wedding location.

From the woodland gardens above the beach you’ll have stunning views of the coastline and that distinctive aroma of the beach. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of some seal pups enjoying the low tide. There’s room for 8 people at the house itself but with so many accommodation opportunities on the coast, you could quite easily make the entire town your own for the day.

The grounds provide the perfect venue for canapés, champagne and other wedding appetisers, while there’s also enough room outdoors for a meal for 25 guests in the summer.
