Closet Design for a Healthy Home and Mind

One of the first things we do in the morning is wake up and get ready for the day. A big part of our daily routine has to do with what we are going to wear. For work, you might wear a suit or dress, for working out you’ll probably choose a pair of tennis shoes or some stretchy yoga pants, and just before you hit the hay, you’ll want to grab your nighties.

With so many activities between you, your partner and maybe even your kids, closets can get messy and disorganized throughout the day becoming just another home headache. But what if you could optimize your closet design for easy and consistent organization?

Sometimes all it takes is a couple of nuts, bolts, shelves, and framing to do just that. For those with bigger budgets, a custom closet designer can help you make any vision come to life. Either way, every home benefits significantly from increased organizational capacity.

We use our closets multiple times throughout the day, and keeping this highly utilized space organized can lead to a happier and overall healthier home and mind; here’s how:

Clutter Control

Work on decluttering your wardrobe, if you create a space and place for everything in your closet, you’ll find the things you need much easier, and maybe get rid of all the inessential parts of your wardrobe gathering dust in the back corner.

Clutter can be stressful and unnecessary. Choosing the right closet design for your lifestyle means more time to relax or focus on other problem areas in the home! Ever been stressed out by having toys scattered about every room? You can even design a custom kids’ closet to give them a natural place for all their things. Every household has something to gain by reimagining the storage.

The Mess & the Stress

For most of us, work is already stressful enough; no one wants to leave work to come home to a place full of unfinished projects and clutter.

Research shows that a messy home can lead to depression, mood swings, unstable relationships, and even unhealthy lifestyle choices.  So invest in yourself by choosing to organize and design the space that is most important to your home’s overall organization. Before you know it, other areas of your life and home will begin to transform for the better.

Rest & Relaxation

The home should be a haven for you and your family to relax, unwind, and spend quality time. After you’ve redesigned your closet space and organized it, you’ll start to realize how much time you have freed up just by knowing where everything is the moment that you start your day.

You may even find comfort in decluttering and cleaning other areas of the home. This can lead to better relationships, healthier eating habits, and possibly new found motivation for all those hobbies you and your family have been wanting to make time for. Before you know it, you’ll be able to pencil in new things like exercise, date nights, or a good book into your daily routine. Hey, you might even find yourself reaching for an apple instead of last night’s leftover pizza.

Staying organized can be a daily struggle, but when you invest in the right design for your closet, you take the first step towards a better home, body, and mind. So remember to take it one step at a time, and before you know it your new closet design will have contributed to a healthier home and mind!

5 Signs That You Need Outdoor Blinds

Blinds and other window furnishings are an obvious design consideration when decorating your home. However, many homeowners only consider the impact of interior blinds for aesthetic appeal and sun protection. But did you know that outdoor blinds can be just as important for maintaining the health and appearance of your home?

That’s right, outdoor window furnishings do exist, and they have been rising in popularity within Australia in recent years. There are many varieties of outdoor blinds  available, including cafe blinds, awnings, retractable blinds, verandah blinds and more. Each one can be customised in any colour or material of your choosing to suit your home when you source them from with the right window furnishing provider.

If you are unsure whether you should purchase new outdoor blinds, there are certain considerations to keep in mind. The following five factors are reasons why you may benefit from this addition to your home.

  • You are Lacking Privacy: Some houses in Australia have fences or hedges surrounding the property to keep out wandering eyes, but many do not. In this case, outdoor blinds can be a useful way to maintain privacy for you and your family. Some types of blinds allow light to enter the home and even let you see outside while still blocking strangers from seeing in.
  • Your Home Heats Up Quickly and Never Cools Down: Blinds are meant to deflect the sun and heat, but far too many are ineffective at doing so. When too much light enters your home, your interior fixtures are at risk of sun damage and you are at risk of discomfort in your living environment. Outdoor blinds are a great way to add an extra layer of protection from the sun’s harmful rays, especially during peak hours.
  • You Have an Excessively High Energy Bill: In reducing the amount of heat that enters your home, exterior blinds may also help slash your home cooling costs. Outdoor window coverings are an environmentally-friendly and cost-effective alternative to blasting the air conditioning all summer long. They can also be opened and closed as needed for maximum control over your home’s interior temperature.
  • You Are Looking to Sell Your Home: If you want to put your house on the market it must be appealing to these potential buyers. One way to increase intrigue and make a lasting first impression is by adding stylish additions to your home such as outdoor blinds or awnings. They can provide a pop of colour to your house’s exterior and capture the attention of passersby. The likelihood of decreased utility bills should also cater to the senses of budget-conscious buyers or renters.
  • Your Windows Are Susceptible to Weather Damage: Some parts of Australia experience quite extreme weather conditions, including intense storms, rain, ice or wind. While changing weather is unavoidable, associated window deterioration can be. Outdoor blinds provide a shield from the elements, which can limit your need for window restoration or repair. If your window coverings extend from your home over your yard or patio, they can also protect you and your belongings from exposure to harsh weather.

For those experiencing any of the above issues, outdoor blinds may provide the solution you need.

Tooth Problems 101: How to Handle a Dental Emergency

teeth

Every individual suffers a tooth problem once in a while; it could be a knocked-out, chipped, broken or cracked tooth. Accidents happen, and knowing what to do when these accidents take place can spell the difference between losing and saving a tooth.

Here’s how you can manage common dental emergencies once they occur to you or a member of your family:

1. Severe Toothache

A toothache can run from a minor irritation to a serious dental emergency. If the pain does reach serious levels, head to the dental office quickly .

Here are other things you can do:

  •         Make sure your mouth is clean by brushing and flossing. Ensure that the pain is not caused by food and plaque stuck between teeth.
  •         Avoid Aspirin. Placing aspirin on your gums as it can burn your gum tissues and if you require an extraction it reduces your ability to form a blood clot so will increase the risk of bleeding after treatment.
  •         If you are having difficulty swallowing and experiencing severe facial swelling, go to the nearest emergency room in your area

2. Bleeding Gums

If you are seeing blood inside your mouth, you may have gum disease or gingivitis. If the bleeding is caused by gum disease, the sooner you get treated, the better.

However, if bleeding occurs and still continues after undergoing treatment by your dentist, head back to the dental clinic. If the bleeding is caused by an injury, arrange to see your dentist as soon as possible. A moist handkerchief or towel and firm, continuous pressure over the site of bleeding will typically stop any bleeding fairly quickly. Avoid using tissues for this purpose which stick to everything and often cause more bleeding on removal.

3. Cracked or Broken Tooth

When your tooth gets cracked or broken, locate any tooth fragments and make sure to bring them with you to the dentist as soon as possible. Sometimes the dentist can bond the fragments back to your tooth quickly before more damage is sustained.

Follow these steps as well:

  •         Clean the area with the broken tooth gently. Is the tooth sensitive? Is the tooth bleeding? Your dentist will want to know to arrange the correct treatment.
  •         Protect the detached tooth fragments. They are easy to lose! Place them in a jar with some water in it.
  •         Reduce any bleeding by applying a cold compress on your face

4. Knocked-out Tooth

When one of your teeth has been knocked out, rushing to a trusted clinic for emergency dental care is crucial if you are to preserve and keep your tooth.

Your knocked out tooth needs to be re-implanted as soon as possible. This is the key to survival of the tooth. If the tooth is clean, replace it in the socket as quickly as possible.

If the knocked-out tooth is dirty, keep it moist in a biological fluid. Saliva and/or blood is the ideal fluid because you’ll have both readily available. If you do not have a container, the tooth can be kept under the lip until you see a dentist.

It is advisable that you see the dentist ASAP to increase the chances of successfully re-attaching the tooth. Re-implanting the tooth within the first 30 minutes greatly improves the chances of success.

5. Broken Jaw

This is a very serious emergency that you must bring to your dentist’s attention immediately. Attending an emergency department of a hospital will be necessary for treatment.

A broken jaw is usually caused by accidents when riding an automobile, playing a sport, or even at work. The signs of a broken jaw can include difficulty opening, a change in the way your teeth bite together, numbness, swelling or bruising in your face, jaw pain, bleeding from your mouth, and teeth that are broken or have become loose.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Apply a cold compress on the affected area by using ice wrapped in cloth to reduce the swelling
  • Make sure to provide steady support to your jaw

Your dentist will then examine your jaw and determine whether there is a fracture and arrange for you to be cared for by a maxilla-facial surgeon for definitive treatment.

With healthy teeth and gums, you can continue flashing that vibrant smile with a complete set of teeth, enjoying your favorite food and drinks, and communicating freely with others. However, you may experience dental issues every now and then. With these helpful tips, you can react appropriately to various dental emergencies in the event that they happen to you.

Loft Conversion Worth Cost? Increase in Home’s Value?

Converting a loft in your home might be beneficial for some homeowners. If you plan on selling your home in the near future, the right work to the loft area can increase the home’s value. Or, if you simply plan on enjoying the space as a family and aren’t considering resale value at the time if the space is properly utilised you can enjoy it for years to come.

Cost of converting the loft –
First off, you have to consider the costs associated with converting a loft space. Initially, the cost of labour per day you’ll pay to a licensed tradesperson will run between £200-300. This is in addition to the cost of materials which can exceed £1000 depending on what you’re doing to the space. A loft which is approximately 100-200 sq meters in space can typically be completed in a week’s time.

How much value will it add –
Think of it this way; if you convert the loft into a bedroom or guest room, this can greatly add value to the home. If you have a 2-bedroom home, the new loft will give you a third bedroom. In some areas, this can increase the value of your home by £5000 or more when you resell. So, the £1500-£2500 you spend to convert it, is obviously worth it.

The converted loft can also double up as a game room, a place for the kids to do homework or even a home theater to enjoy time with the family. So, even if you don’t plan on selling the home soon you can utilise the space and make the most of it with family/friends.

For the most part, loft conversions aren’t too costly considering the returns unless you plan on purchasing lavish décor and spending a great deal of money on furnishings. Otherwise, it might well be worth converting the space, adding more livable space and having a spare room for different activities whether you plan on enjoying it or plan on reselling the home in the near future.

Account for delays/setback –
It is obviously a good idea to expect the best but plan for the worst. In the event new lighting, wiring, plumbing or other work has to be done this can add to the cost and time. So, you can budget accordingly and set aside an additional £500-1500 for these additional expenses. Even if you incur them, the returns during the selling process is typically worth the time and cost of getting the conversion done.

Loft conversions can be used in so many ways. Whether you plan on enjoying the space yourself or simply plan on converting to increase resale value, it is beneficial to do in most homes. If you are contemplating whether or not to make the upgrade then I would contact a few licensed tradespeople. Get some written quotes and compare the prices they offer to ensure you find the best price, guarantees and most qualified to do the conversion of the loft space in your home.

Making Extra Cash From Your Passion For Music

music fender

It’s a given that every family could do with a bit of extra cash. CNBC reported in late 2017 that 25% of Americans are currently working a side gig, showing the lucrative nature of side earnings. An avenue to extra money for any family with musical skills is through your favorite hobby. While it might not look like money could earn you much, going from the coins in a busker’s hat, a 2015 Time article found that buskers earn more than you think. More than that, there’s a wealth of opportunity to be found in other music-related areas.

Next time you make use of the shed as a practice room, or find yourself singing in the shower, consider if you have the equipment and ability to make a bit of extra cash whilst doing something you love.

Your state of equipment

Key to any side-gig as a musician is, of course, equipment. Even a singer needs a half-decent microphone and recording system to get stuff out and about on the internet or when in public. One of the most accessible and friendly music markets is the acoustic one; simply, one person using their voice and a quality model of acoustic guitar. This is an important thing to note; when playing in public, you’ll need a far bigger setup to play electric, especially in public but also in club and bar style settings.

If you’re looking to popularize yourself through the internet, you’ll need a good enough quality recording setup to make sure that you are crisp and clear. The basics of home production are fairly straightforward and don’t require a huge outlay – as for a camera, most smartphones have an excellent quality camera today. Even without a smartphone available, if you are able to keep still on camera the image quality should be acceptable.

Popularizing yourself online

There are a few key tricks you can employ to generate a buzz for yourself online. The good news is that the huge popularity of the internet means that potentially millions of people will be able to access your material easily. The downside is that there’s a huge volume of competition out there and you need to be wise to create a buzz.

Consider using your family to get involved in the process. This can make it a fun environment in which kids get involved, to. Think of some of the most viewed videos on YouTube, and they often involve happy families working together, like with the mega-famous “Charlie bit my finger”. Creating an online buzz can have a great knock on effect in your local community, too, as people become aware of your talents. Play local shows, join local groups on Facebook and other social circles to popularize your music and get a bit of a buzz doing.

Music is a great pastime that many people adore to listen to and get involved with. Even for an amateur or part-time musician, there’s real money to be made to help support your family, and you can even get them involved too. Don’t wait! Start your musical journey today.

The Ultimate Guide to Buying the Right Mattress For Your Child…

Sleep is a crucial element in aiding growth, development and overall well-being in children. Depending on the age of your child, they will need between 10 and 14 hours of sleep every night. This is why it is vital that your child’s mattress is comfortable and provides support throughout the night.

A good children’s mattress will:

  • Promote correct posture
  • Support healthy growth
  • Provide a hygienic night’s rest

From all the types of mattresses available to the products that will protect the mattress from accidents and spills, our comprehensive guide will give a parent all the information needed to make the right call for their child.

“What Age Should My Child Move to a Children’s Bed?”

Most toddlers move across from cot to bed between eighteen months and three years. But, there’s no specific time frame; every child is different.

A good barometer for when the switch should be made is when your toddler is able to climb out of the cot, or grows too tall to enjoy a comfortable night.

Making the change means that your child won’t be at risk of falling from the cot and hurting themselves, but it means they will be able to get out of bed and move around independently, so their bedroom should be toddler-proofed.

What Types of Mattresses Are There?

A high-quality mattress is very important and should support your child’s stages of growth. There are many different types of mattresses, and below we have put together a guide to help you decide the right course for you and your little one.

  • Open Coil – Open coil springs work in unity to spread the weight evenly across the mattress surface. They provide great support and are good for spinal alignment.
  • Pocket Sprung – Pocket sprung mattresses use springs wrapped in cloth. These mattresses are more sensitive to weight and movement than standard sprung options.
  • Memory Foam – The memory foam moulds to your child’s body shape and reduces tossing and turning during the night.
  • Latex – These mattresses are hypoallergenic and breathable. They’re ideal for kids that get too warm during the night.
  • Reflex Foam – Reflex foam mattresses use a solid foam block that provides superior support for growing kids.

Mattress Type Advantages Disadvantages
Open Coil Great Support,

Lower Budget Friendly

Unresponsive to Shape
Pocket Sprung Tailored Support,

Hardy

More Expensive Option

Memory Foam

Reduces Tossing & Turning,

Hypoallergenic,

Hardy

Can Get Very Warm

Latex

Supportive,

Hypoallergenic,

Environmentally Friendly

More Expensive Option

Reflex Foam

Light Weight

Good Value

Non-Tailored Support

Is Second Hand an Option?

Unfortunately, it’s all too common for children to be given old mattresses and beds to sleep in. If someone gives it away, it simply isn’t good enough for your child. And this is why:

  • Reduction in Support – Over time a mattress begins to lose its support levels and this affects your child’s comfort and ability to sleep soundly.
  • Hygiene – Every year, we lose nearly half a pint of water from our body and shed a pound of skin during sleep. The build-up of dust and moisture can lead to increased bacterial growth and mould. This obviously creates a less than healthy sleeping environment for your little one.

Of course, some mattresses are expensive and just aren’t suited to everyone’s budgets, but when you shop around there are always options that suit all budgets and still offer the quality that your child needs to make bedtime a pleasurable experience.

When Should I Replace My Child’s Mattress?

This really depends on their age and growth patterns. Below are the suggested guidelines:

Age Frequency
3-10 Years

Every Three Years

10-16 Years

Every Five Years

How Much Should I Spend?

Like with anything that you purchase, normally the more you spend the longer it lasts. This applies to mattresses – more money normally leads to better quality fillings and a longer lifespan, which could actually save you money in the long run.

But, it’s certainly worth shopping around as there’s also something to be found in each range that will suit all budgets.

How Can I Create a Hypoallergenic Environment for My Child?

If your child suffers from sensitive skin, allergies or breathing difficulties, such as asthma, it might be necessary to create an allergy-free zone. Purchasing products such as mattresses, pillows, bedding and mattress protectors that are manufactured specifically to promote an environment where dust mists aren’t able to thrive will create a better sleeping scenario for your child.

Here’s what you’ll need to create the complete hypoallergenic package:

Hypoallergenic Mattress:

Allergies, asthma and sensitive skin, can be an awful thing to suffer with, and it is especially difficult for children and can really affect their ability to rest comfortably since their bodies are changing so rapidly. Allergies can cause a runny nose, itchy eyes and headaches, which make getting to sleep that much harder and will often play havoc with a child’s sinuses even after they do drift off.

Medications can often create some temporary relief, but the best thing to do is to remove the source of the problem, which is often the mattress.

Dust mites are a nightmare for allergy sufferers. There are millions of them living and feeding within your mattress. Over the course of its life, an average mite can produce up to 200 times its body weight in waste which triggers allergic reactions.

Hypoallergenic mattresses contain microcapsules that release natural, friendly bacteria into the mattress to reduce moisture build-up. These types of probiotics are used for their ability to soak up the moisture in the mattress so dust mites are left dehydrated and simply can’t thrive and thus, mould cannot grow.

Hypoallergenic Bedding:

Hypoallergenic bedding works to eliminate dust mites by utilising tightly woven fabric. The fabric design and small pore size mean that it’s almost impossible for anything to push through the material.

Hypoallergenic Materials:

When it comes to fitting out your child’s bed with hypoallergenic bedding, certain materials work much more effectively than others. Keep an eye out for the following:

  • Bamboo
  • Thermo-Regulating
  • Silk
  • Cotton
  • Down
  • Hypodown
  • Wool
  • Latex

How Do I Protect the Mattress From Spills & Accidents?

Bedwetting and spillages are commonplace when it comes to children – particularly younger ones. These can be rather troublesome to clean and by giving the mattress the protection it needs, you are helping to safeguard the life cycle of the product whilst remaining within warranty.

Most mattress protectors are fitted with elasticated edging to ensure a firm fit around the top and sides of the mattress. Waterproof bedding has a bad rap due to the misconception that it can be noisy or uncomfortable to sleep on – however, most mattress protectors are manufactured with a soft cotton top to avoid crinkling that will keep the whole house awake.

Hopefully, our comprehensive has provided with all the information you need to make an informed choice safe in the knowledge that you have ensured that your child is getting the best possible product for their ongoing development and wellbeing.

An Insider’s Guide to Buying Off-Plan Properties in Dubai

Off-plan properties have become a popular residential housing option for investors and owners alike in the UAE. Now, it has become a lot easier to be convinced to buy property off-the-plan, what with the popular use of new technology like 3D virtual reality and online reservation tools so clients can do a property walk-through and reserve a property online.

Similar to any investment, purchasing off-plan properties also comes with risks. So if you are considering buying an off-plan property in Dubai, here are crucial things you must know before making that final decision, and signing on the dotted line.

Off-plan property – what is it?

An off-plan property is a type of property that is not yet constructed and bought directly from the developer or from the first owner who bought it directly from the developer.

When buying from a developer, you may need to pay a 10-20% down payment at the time of purchase and sign a sales purchase agreement or SPA. The rest of the payments can vary depending on the developer, but this is usually linked to construction milestones. As a precautionary measure, developers are required to keep an escrow account for real estate development projects in order to protect the interests of serious investors.

Possible risks

Change in market conditions

If there is a downward move in property prices, it can result in the property devaluing or becoming worthless making it a bad investment. Though this risk is inherent in real estate, it affects off-plan property more because they are harder to liquidate especially when the project gets delayed or canceled.

Delayed completion time

In some cases, developments do not always get finished according to plan. Some are completed after their scheduled date of completion, or get finished but as scaled down versions of what was in the original master plan.

It is for this reason that you must be meticulous in choosing to deal with a specific property developer. Check their track record and make sure that the sale agreement you are about to sign says that you will be compensated for any delays.

When can you sell it?

There are plenty of measures put in place to make sure that the Dubai market is a secure market for you to invest in. One of them has an impact on buyers who wish to sell their property before completion.

Some developers require original or first owners to pay at least 40% of the total payments before they can sell it to a new owner. Remember that this varies from developer to developer so check with your developer should you wish to sell your off-plan property before it is completed.

When the minimum repayment threshold has been settled, the process of selling it is the same as selling a ready property. Both the seller and the buyer must agree upon the price and terms, sign the contract, and apply for a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) where the new buyer takes over all the unpaid payments once the transfer is complete.

Six steps in buying off-plan property

Step 1: Determine the type and area of the property you want

With plenty of options out there, searching for the best off-plan property can be overwhelming. To narrow down your options, it is crucial for you to have a list of preferred areas and the type of property you want. For instance, decide if you want to buy a villa or an apartment in Dubai Marina or Umm Suqeim.

Step 2: Know who you’re buying from

Make sure that you are familiar with the developer you are buying from. Are they reputable? Do they have an excellent track record? Looking into their past projects is important because these are great indicators of what you can reasonably expect.

Step 3: Be aware of the project details

You must learn about the project you are going to purchase. Be familiar with the project you’re considering and the master plan.

Some important considerations in determining whether or not a development is right for you include the property size (number of units, area, etc.), parking arrangements, available amenities and facilities, materials to be used, proximity to other structures, and how the master development will affect your prospective property.

Triplanet real estate developers in UAE try to provide a model unit for viewing early on. But at the earlier stages, investors usually rely on digital 3D walkthroughs and mock-ups comprehensively used in the developer’s marketing material.

Step 4: Decide on what exactly you want to buy

After deciding on which development to buy into, decide on what kind of unit you want to invest in. This means paying close attention to the unit size, floor layout and height, unit position and orientation within the development, and the views from the bedrooms and living areas.

You also need to know everything that is included in the purchase such as furniture, white goods, and landscaping. By fully understanding these factors, you can calculate your initial expense and project future gains. Knowing exactly what comes with your purchase also ensures you get what you paid for.

Step 5: Carefully read the contract before signing

Before signing, you must understand what the contract is saying. Be fully aware of your obligations along with the developer’s obligations. Getting professional advice is highly recommended to leave no stone unturned.

If you are dealing with a sale and leasing real estate agent, make sure they are qualified and certified. Ask questions and probe so you get all the necessary information out in the open.

Step 6: Budget properly

Buying off-plan properties won’t require full payment upfront. Instead, you will need to allocate a budget for staggered payments depending on the construction milestones. To avoid any unpleasant surprises, make sure to know your payment plan obligations and meet them as required.

By investing in off-plan properties, you get a brand new property that is built to the latest building codes, and at a much lower price compared to ready properties.

But not all developments are created equal, so you must do your own research. Get professional advice, and follow this guide so you end up getting the best value off-plan property.

5 Daily Problems You Can Solve With Storage Services

One of the most common complaints that today’s adults have is how busy they are. They have work to take care of plus household responsibilities to stay on top of, and some even have a growing family with very young members that demand their constant attention.

As such, many are constantly looking for ways to simplify their life. This way, they’ll be able to do everything that they need to in a highly efficient manner.

When it comes to solutions for simplifying activities in your overall routine, taking advantage of local storage services comes highly recommended by organizational gurus. Most communities today offer a range of self-storage facilities and these provide a variety of solutions for people who need to properly organize their homes.

If you’re struggling with your daily routine, consider using the services of a trusted storage company. This one decision can provide the answer to some of the productivity and mobility problems you encounter every day.

What issues, exactly, can storage services effectively address?

1.     Your tendency to get stressed on a busy morning

There’s clutter everywhere. You can’t find the things you need when you need them, and your family members can’t, either (and they’re bugging you to find them). You don’t have to deal with such a situation if the only things in your home are the few items that you really love and those that you actually need and use every day.

You can kill clutter by placing the possessions that you don’t really need (yet) in a storage unit. Doing this will create more space for your home, and at the same time, make finding what you need every day a whole lot easier.

2.     Your inability to easily find the right outfit for work

Clearing your closet of the clothes that you don’t need for the season and putting them in storage will allow you to put together a capsule wardrobe that contains your favorite and most relevant pieces of clothing.

When you only need to sift through a few clothes (that you reach for constantly, anyway), putting together an ensemble you’ll be happy with every day will be a breeze. You’ll be out the door ready to take on the world in no time.

3.     The excessive amount of time you spend on chores

Altogether, chores can take a long time to finish.  If only you had fewer things to clear off the coffee and dining tables, fewer dirty clothes to put in the wash, and fewer plates and utensils to wash, you could get your chores done quickly and have more time to rest.

The problem with having so many items at home, particularly plates and drinking glasses, is that your family members will get this idea: They won’t bother washing a glass after they drink from it, for example, and opt to leave it at the table so they can use it again later instead.

Alternatively, they might use one plate or drinking glass, neglect to wash and put it away after use, leave it on the kitchen or dining room table, and then return after some time and take out a clean one to use, since there are plenty more clean ones.

The result? Dirty plates and glasses cluttering the room. A mess that you have to constantly clean up.

So if you don’t have any spare cash for professional cleaning services to assist, by placing spare supplies into storage, the whole household will learn to pitch in with the chores. They will use only what they need, and promptly wash and put them away afterwards..

Store all the extras in a storage unit, and your chores will be easier and quicker to finish.

4.     The problem of constantly bumping and tripping over things

When you have a lot of items lying around where they are not supposed to, you have to strategically navigate your home. On crazy days when everybody’s rushing, you can get careless. It’s so easy to stumble over things on the floor, knock over piles on the table, and just get into minor accidents.

By putting décor, furniture and other belongings that you don’t currently use in storage, you can create enough space for comfortable movement in your home. Everyone can avoid bumping into things or breaking valuables because there’s not enough room to comfortably move around in.

5.     The guilt you feel for not being able to keep a clean house

A tidy home is an important responsibility for every homeowner. If you take it seriously, but truly go through day when the list of things to do can be overwhelming,  you probably feel guilty for not being able to uphold it well, and at all times. Perhaps you may even feel like some kind of failure.

If you tuck much of your possessions away in a storage unit, cleaning here and there will automatically become a lot easier. Tidying up won’t be a huge deal every time.

Most people fail to automatically see the connection between an easier, more comfortable life and the use of a storage unit. Hopefully, with the list provided here, you’ll look at storage services as a reliable means of elevating the quality of your life and making your home a truly comfortable haven for the whole family.

7 Cleaning Habits to Keep Your Home Always Neat and Tidy

clean home

Keeping up with your everyday housekeeping needs can be daunting and time-consuming. But professional cleaners and maid services providers say that keeping your house clean and tidy does not have to take up all your time.

It is all about starting some good habits that you eventually get to follow instinctively. The more habituated you become, the easier it will be to maintain your home.

Here are seven habits you can adopt to help keep your home clean and orderly all the time.

  1. Make your bed daily

People think that making their bed every day is a waste of time. But this makes a huge difference in keeping your bedroom neat and orderly, and it will only take a couple of minutes of your time.

To make things a lot easier, simplify your bedding. For instance, cut out your top sheets and just use a washable cover and a duvet. But if you love top sheets, you can use a large enough duvet or comforter that you do not need to tuck in the sheets, and minimize the number of your pillows.

  1. Prioritize accordingly

All cleaning is not created equal. Create a list of the things you like to get done and prioritize what must be completed today, and what can wait until the next day or what can be done on a weekly basis.

Stick with the things you must do right away before trying to do the other things on your list. For example, you can’t leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight, nor should you postpone cleaning off the mess in your oven. But cleaning the bathtub or places like the attic or garage can wait.

  1. Involve the whole family

It seems a lot easier to do the cleaning job yourself, but spending a significant amount of time teaching your children to perform age-appropriate jobs is important for the both of you. With them, you get extra hands to help, and they learn to perform small tasks and develop a concern for cleanliness and responsibility.

Begin by having your kids put their shoes and coats away if they come in the house, clean their own rooms, and put the dishes in the dishwasher. As they are able, you can ask them to do more tasks.

Getting your family involved will make a huge difference in making your home clean and tidy when these simple things are done. Your kids may need supervision for the first several weeks, but cleaning up will become a habit eventually.

  1. Declutter

Taking some time to declutter and organize your home will help cut down the time needed to clean. Fewer items on the surface tops and counters will cut down on dusting, and make cleaning faster and much easier.

  1. Dust and vacuum regularly

By dusting and vacuuming once or twice a week, your house will stay cleaner. This will also help you save time since you do not have to do a major cleanup every time you want to tidy up in your house.

  1. Wipe surfaces after each use

Whether you just cooked a meal, made a sandwich, brushed your teeth or put on your makeup, make sure to wipe down the surface you just used. This task will only take a few seconds and will keep the area clean and ready to be used again.

Remember that when you let dust, grime and grease build-up over time, it will be harder to clean up some surfaces.

  1. Get some help

If you are time-crunched and you want to spend some time with your family, it is time for you to enlist the services of a professional. There are professional cleaning service providers ready to tackle your cleaning requirements.

Professional cleaners can perform routine cleaning. This service includes making beds, the thorough cleaning of kitchens and bathrooms, dusting all surfaces, and mopping. You have the option to limit the service to some areas or rooms as well.

But if your house has not been cleaned for quite a long time, you may need some sort of deep cleaning service. Depending on your budget and needs, you can arrange for professional cleaners to come weekly, monthly, twice a month, or some other variation.

A professional cleaning service may not be for everyone, but when chores are already a major source of stress, or have become too time-consuming, spending a little extra money will go a long way. And if you don’t want to keep hired help all the time, just maintain the cleanliness they have achieved for you.

Just like becoming successful in other parts of your life, keeping a well-maintained home boils down to your daily habits. If cleaning is done regularly, your home will always be in great condition.
